The Royal Borough's community safety partnership is launching its second annual photography competition on Monday 17 September at 4pm at East Berkshire College, Windsor.
The competition - called Capture your Community- invites residents to submit photos of what their area means to them to further enhance community pride.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member with responsibility for community safety, said: "We're looking for photos that capture what you like about your community. That could be where you live, work, go to school or worship - the choice is yours.
"The standard of last year's entries was extremely high, making the judges' decision very hard and I am sure it will be the same this year.
"With such a great summer with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics I am sure we'll have more entries than last year. We added the Olympics as a 'one-off' additional category this year, and I am sure many residents will have captured the spirit of the Games with their lens and we would love to see their pictures.
"I am delighted East Berkshire College is hosting our launch - it seemed very appropriate as the college has an A-level photography course and we hope it will encourage more entries from young people."
Photographers of all ages and expertise are invited to enter in three categories:
Brian McCormack, of Snappy Snaps, Windsor, said:" Snappy Snaps Windsor is delighted to be able to offer one of the prizes for this community-based photography event. The inclusion of the Olympic category is particularly poignant following on from the buzz created by London 2012. The camaraderie generated from it is exactly what community spirit is all about and being a business at the heart of Windsor we hope this spirit continues to bring people together long into the future. Good luck everyone."
To qualify, photographs must be taken in the Royal Borough (with the exception of the Olympics where photos of the Games at Eton Dorney will be accepted). For further information call 01628 796126 or email communitysafety@rbwm.gov.uk. Only digital photographs up to 10Mb can be accepted.
Entry forms and terms and conditions are available for downloading from the community safety website http://www.rbwmsafety4all.org.uk/photocomp.htm. Photographs should be emailed to communitysafety@rbwm.gov.uk. The closing date is Friday 16 November with the award ceremony on Wednesday 5 December in the Mayor's Parlour.
