'Tremendous' response for Royal Borough inaugural volunteer awards

Council volunteers who work across a range of services including Adopt-a-Street, libraries, museums and youth services will be honoured at an awards ceremony on Thursday 20 September in the Desborough Suite, Town Hall, Maidenhead, between 11am and 12.45pm.

Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for planning and participation, said: "We have had a tremendous response to our first council volunteer awards with more than 60 nominations.

"The awards ceremony is a very public way of thanking our volunteers and highlighting the work they do which complements council staff and services - helping us provide even better services for our residents.

"I am really looking forward to the event and I am sure the volunteers are too. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate someone they felt deserved to be recognised."

Volunteers were nominated in the following categories:

  • Adopt-a-Street - (businesses, community, individual and schools)
  • community project
  • community safety - (individual and group)
  • libraries
  • museum
  • school governor
  • young volunteer.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and each will receive an engraved glass trophy and a certificate.
