Windsor BodyZone plans to bulk up

Windsor Leisure Centre is set to offer an even wider range of health and fitness facilities with the proposed addition of a second floor extension to the successful BodyZone gym.

A spinning bike studio and consultation rooms are included in the plans and additional specialist equipment for functional training and cardio training will be available - all with the added bonus of panoramic views over the Thames.

The planning application was submitted in August and a decision should hopefully be made in early October. If approved, building is expected to start early in the new year and completion anticipated for early summer.

The proposal to extend facilities at the centre follows a thorough public consultation over the past 12 months.

Cllr Simon Dudley, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, said: "The new space would give us the opportunity to improve upon the excellent health and fitness facilities already on offer. We looked for the best way to deliver against customer demand and further enhance the centre as a fantastic leisure destination for residents and visitors.

"It will also hopefully contribute towards tackling important health issues faced by some members of the community."

He added: "The development forms part of our manifesto commitment to expand leisure facilities and meet the future needs of borough residents."
