Parkeon, the company which installed the pay-on-exit system at the Nicholson (Broadway) car park earlier this year, has informed the Royal Borough that in order to improve the services it offers customers who use the online payment facility the ParkingPal system is being replaced with a new service called ParkREG that will offer additional benefits.
To support borough residents, Parkeon will be writing to all of their UK-based customers who have registered informing them of the change and what they need to do in order to facilitate a smooth transition to the new system. Details quite rightly cannot simply be transferred from one system to another under Data Protection legislation.
Residents who have not registered online will not be affected by the changes and can continue to use the system as they do currently.
Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways, transport and engineering, said: "While it is unfortunate that people who have regsitered with ParkingPal will now have to register with ParkREG, I am sure that in the longer term it will be beneficial for residents.
"The pay-on-exit system has now settled down after a few initial glitches. Since it was introduced in March of this year, the system has been used over 200,000 times.
"I am also pleased to see that other councils have followed the Royal Borough's lead and introducing similar flexible modern systems, once again proving that we are a forward thinking borough and responding to residents' needs. As always we will contibute to support our residents while these changes are implemented."
