Loans Boxes for 'Hands on Learning' & Reminiscence

The 'Hands-on Learning' programme is run by Reading Museum
Service to provide real objects for learning within the classroom.

Schools Loan Boxes with teachers notes

Boxes of objects associated with Windsor and Maidenhead have been chosen from the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum for lending to schools across Berkshire and beyond.

They have been developed and packaged, together with teaching material, in partnership with Reading Museum Service.

Sessions

Taught sessions in the galleries at the Museum of Reading, and in the classroom are also provided, led by trained museum staff.

Memory Box for Reminiscence

Reading Museum Services have also created Memory Boxes for older members of the community, packed with artefacts, documents and photographs. Reminiscence sessions can have very positive outcomes for patients with memory loss and dementia. Health and social services staff can arrange to borrow boxes from Reading.
