Political Composition of the Council

The Royal Borough has 57 Councillors representing the groups detailed in the table below. Borough Council elections are held every four years.

From the 2003 Borough elections, the number of Councillors was reduced from 58 to 57 following a periodic electoral review.

The 2003, 2007 and 2011 Borough election figures are in brackets. Since the 2003 elections:-

The Conservatives won the Horton & Wraysbury seat (vacated by Independent - Horton & Wraysbury) following a by-election held on 16 June 2005.
The Conservatives won the Eton Wick seat (vacated by Labour) following a by election held on 22 September 2005.
In July 2010 Councillor Hendry joined the Conservative Group from the Liberal Democrat Group.
In December 2010 Councillor Wiles left the Old Windsor Residents' & Ratepayers Association Group to become Independent.
The Conservatives retained the Park Ward seat following a by-election held on 6 January 2011.
The Liberal Democrats won the Eton and Castle Ward seat (vacated by Conservatives) following a by-election held on 11 August 2011
In March 2012 Councillors Catherine and Tom Bursnall left the Conservative Group to become UKIP members.
