Grants to Voluntary Organisations: Frequently Asked Questions

Non-profit making voluntary organisations operating within the Royal Borough may apply for assistance with financing capital projects or running expenses. Most organisations providing services of an advisory, welfare, cultural, social, leisure or sporting nature are eligible. This includes Youth and Community organisations.

Registered charities will qualify for 80% mandatory charity relief on their Business Rates. Discretionary relief for non-profit making organisations such as sports clubs is available, subject to application. Further information is available from the Inland Revenue on how to register a Community Amateur Sports Club with the Inland Revenue and therefore be eligible for mandatory rather than discretionary relief.
