The School Standards and Framework Act (SSFA) 1998 , as amended by section 40 of the Education Inspections Act 2006, and the School Admissions Code and School Admission Appeals Code produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), as defined by case law, govern all school admission appeals. The SSFA 1998 requires all Local Authorities (LAs) to make arrangements for enabling parents to appeal against decisions made by the LA as to the school at which their child is to be educated.
If your child has not been offered a place at the school of your preference you have the right to appeal against the Local Authority's decision. Please first read the attached Guide to Admission Appeals. Then complete carefully and honestly the appeal form attached below and, together with a copy of the letter refusing a place at the school and any other supporting information, email it to democratic.services@rbwm.gov.uk or return it by hand or in the post, in an envelope marked 'Confidential' to the following address:

You may appeal for a place for your child at more than one school, if you have been refused a place. If you do appeal for more than one school, please submit each appeal on a separate form.
A member of staff in the Democratic Services section will be responsible for the administration of your appeal and will acknowledge receipt of your form within one week.
