Local Transport Plan (LTP3) Consultation

We have already started working on the Borough's next Local Transport Plan (LTP3). Unlike the current version, which has a 5 year strategy and implementation plan, we are looking instead to develop a longer term strategy covering the period from 2011 to 2026, which will be supported by a series of shorter term implementation plans, each of 3 years duration. This will give us the ability to set long-term goals and aspirations, and ensure that delivery programmes can be planned with a high degree of certainty whilst remaining responsive to changing circumstances.

As a first step in the development of LTP3, we undertook a public consultation on issues and options to identify the priorities for future investment and seek agreement on the types of schemes and initiatives that will be appropriate for the Royal Borough and that will be acceptable to local residents and businesses.

A questionnaire was sent out to all households with the October copy of Around the Royal Borough, which sought the views of local residents on:

  • The borough's proposed transport objectives;
  • Key transport issues and challenges that we are likely to face in the coming years;
  • The current provision of local bus services and public transport information; and
  • The sorts of measures that are available to address the identified issues and challenges.

We also prepared a supporting paper, which provides some additional background to the LTP process and which looks at the transport issues and options in more details. This is available to view or download as a PDF file via the link below.

The consultation attracted an excellent reponse and we are currently entering the data from the questionnaires and analysing the results. We will aim to publish the results of the consultation in the new year.

Prior to the main public consultation on the issues and options, the Council consulted with statutory stakeholders on a draft Scoping Report for a Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Local Transport Plan. Following this consultation, a Revised Scoping Report and Consultation Statement were published. While no further comments are sought, these are still available to view and download below.
