Join the Library

There are eleven libraries, five sites visited by the Container Library and the Mobile Library is for public use and offers a Home Library service.

Join your local Library

You can join online or in person at any Borough library; to borrow audio visual items, you need to show us proof of your address on a current bank statement, utility bill, driving licence or medical card.
If you join online, and live in the Borough, we will send out your membership card.
If you live out of the Borough, please specify which Borough library you would like to collect your membership card from.

To activate your card, sign it and read the library terms and conditions.

You can borrow up to 24-items and also download up to five Audiobooks and eBooks - and, if it's more convenient, you can also return items to a different Borough library.
We encourage you to bring your membership card when using the library; however, items can be issued if you show proof of your identity/address. There is a charge to replace membership cards.
You will need your membership card to use library computers and self service kiosks
Show your Advantage card & we'll update your record; automatic discounts apply when you borrow certain items or use computers.

All Borough libraries have computers, with access to the Internet, and you will need your membership card to use them.

Library members, with Advantage card, get 45 minutes free access per day & can pay for extra time in 30 minute blocks.
If you're a library member, without an Advantage card, you can pay to use computers in 30 minute blocks.
Visitors can buy a guest card to use computers in 30 minute blocks.
If you're age 15-17 years, you get 45 minutes free access per day and additional 30 minute blocks for free, subject to computer availability.
If you're 12-14 years, your parent, guardian or carer needs to come into the library to sign a permission form; your record will be updated to get 45 minutes free access per day and get additional 30 minute blocks for free, subject to computer availability.
