Catalogue, Renew & Request
While you can use the library catalogue as a Guest user, you will only get your full membership benefits by logging in as a Library member with your library card number and PIN*
You can do the following after you login :
- Renew books, DVDs and any other items that you have on loan.
- Search the catalogue and then request a book or other item available for loan in our libraries.
- Add a review to a book or other items.
- Set up an alert profile to be notified of new material
- Use SAFARI - our collection of 400 online computer e-books.
* To obtain a PIN number please contact your local library.
You can just search the library catalogue without logging in.
After you login as a library member you normally can renew books and other items such as DVDs.
You will not be able to renew an item:
- If they are reserved by another customer, or
- If you have already renewed them four times. After that, you will need to bring them into the library to renew, or
- If you have charges on your account that amount to more than £20 (£10 for children)
To renew your loans:
- Login to My Library and access the My Account ~ Summary listing page.
- Select the link to display all Current loans.
- If you want to renew individual loans select by ticking the checkbox for each loan you would like to renew then click Renew Selections.
- If you want to renew all your current loans, click Renew All.
- Now please wait while the system processes your selections.
- Your list of loans will be returned showing the result for each renewal in the status column. Some renewals may not be successful.
- Please note the new due date for each loan.
- Please remember that if you wish to renew an item more than four times, you will need to bring it into the library for a further renewal.
Find the title you would like to reserve and view the record in
- Select the Place Reservation button displayed at the top and bottom of the record display. This button will only appear if a reservation may be placed on this title.
- Enter your library card number and PIN if you are not already logged in.
- Select the location from which you would like collect the item.
- Select an expiry period or enter a specific expiry date. Your reservation will be automatically cancelled if not satisfied by this date.
- Select the Place Reservation button.
- You will be advised if there are any charges or problems with your reservation.
- If all if well and you wish to proceed with your reservation, select the Continue button.
- Select the Cancel button if you don't wish to place the reservation.
- If you decided to proceed, details of your reservation will be displayed. This includes your current rank in the waiting list for the title.
