Nature Conservation and wildlife

We are fortunate that 83% of the Royal Borough is within the Green Belt, and it has many interesting countryside locations and natural areas which provides excellent opportunities for quiet recreation, relaxation, walking and enjoyment of wildlife, as well as being important for nature conservation. These range from small woodlands to extensive areas of commons owned by the National Trust.

Within the Borough we also have various local initiatives including opportunities for environmental education, local community action and volunteering, biodiversity action planning and promoting access to the countryside.
