  • Standing open waters
  • Woodlands

These, along with other information , can be found at the Berkshire Biodiversity Action Plan website.

The Borough also supports the Berkshire BAP Partnership and the post of County Biodiversity Officer, created in 2006. Other partners are:

  • Natural England
  • Environment Agency
  • Thames Water
  • West Berkshire Council
  • Wokingham District Council
  • Bracknell Forest Council
  • Reading Council
  • BBOWT
  • Forestry Commision

The Biodiversity Officer co-ordinates the implementation of the habitat action plans, and other related initiatives, including the Conservation Target Area initiative.

Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre (TVERC)

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead supports TVERC. The main role of the organisation is to collect and share wildlife information in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.

If you have any wildlife records you would like recorded or would like further information on surveys, please contact the TVERC at one of their offices listed on the Planning Policy webpage.

Ecology

The Council employs a consultant ecologist to provide specialist advice on nature conservation issues, particularly in relation to planning matters - both development control and planning policy. For further information, please contact Planning Policy.
