Windsor and Maidenhead is a small, friendly Borough where people get to know each other quickly, with support and advice readily available.
Ofsted have found (December 2008) that we are a Local Authority where 'Priorities are clear, …, and take account of equality and diversity issues well'. They also reported that 'Levels of attainment at all Key stages are above the national average and no schools achieve below the government floor targets'.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has an unusual mix of types of school. There are infant schools (5-7 years), junior schools (7-11 years), primary schools (5-11 years) and all through comprehensive schools, situated in Maidenhead, Cookham, Ascot and Datchet as well as the villages that give the Royal Borough its rich variety and add so much to its character. There are also first schools (5-9 years), middle schools (9-12 years, deemed secondary) and upper schools (13-18) situated in Windsor and Eton.
There is a large special school Holyport Manor which caters for all age groups and has a residential facility. This is due to move to a £24 million purpose built school in Cox Green for September 2010.
