Rewards and Benefits

The rewards of working in the Royal Borough

There are many benefits to working for our council - indeed, many more than you might enjoy working for a private sector company. As well as modern working environments and friendly teams, expect the following rewards:

Financial benefits

We offer everything from personal car lease schemes and final salary pension schemes to the chance to buy private medical and dental care and personal accident insurance at discounted corporate rates. You'll also enjoy free parking and there's also a flexible benefits scheme, which lets you buy or sell up to 10 days' annual holiday entitlement.

Well-being benefits

We want you to stay fit and healthy - so we've made available all sorts of benefits that can help to keep you in good shape. Look forward to discounted corporate leisure membership or yoga classes, free eyesight tests (for designated DSE users) plus plenty of sports activities.

Family benefits

The council has a number of policies that support carers in the workplace, it recognises that many of its staff in addition to their paid employment will have unpaid caring responsibilities and a variety of detail is available in our 'Support for carers' statement.

We can provide you with flexible working options from innovative I.T solutions; childcare vouchers and even offer you the possibility of working from home. You'll also find we're supportive if you need to take time off to start a family (including adopting a child), care for a child or other relative, or for reasons relating to a bereavement.

Lifestyle benefits

We give you 28 days' holiday a year plus eight Bank Holidays, social activities and discounts at local cafes, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities. We also offer a Borough Advantage card that provides numerous other local discounts and offers.

These are just some of the benefits available to our people. Others include optional union membership, vocational training, free financial advice and a confidential counselling service.

Everybody working in the public sector is welcome to join the Kaarp Voluntary Benefit website. As a public sector employee, you'll be able to take advantage of a wide variety of special offers that could save you money. There's something for everyone, whether it's shopping and entertainment or days out, health clubs, holidays - even roadside assistance.
