Delivering exceptional services to residents and businesses across the region is the job of four key Directorates. Here's what each of these do:
Covers Public Protection, Waste, Highways, Street Care, Property & Council Assets and our contribution to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Includes everything from Finance (including Revenues and Benefits) to Customer Services, Legal, ICT, Procurement and Efficiency, and HR, which includes organisational development (including Health and Safety)
Covers Safeguarding, Youth Offending, Youth Services, the Children's Trust, School Support (including Improvement and Special Educational Needs) and more.
Responsible for Adult Care Services, Libraries, Arts and Heritage, Leisure Services and Housing. Please visit Working in Social Care.
These Directorates are additionally supported by two new units. Both report to our Chief Executive and are led by Heads of Service:
Covers Communication and Consultation, Performance and Policy, Resident Advocacy and Democratic Services.
Manages Building Control, Planning Policy, the Joint Strategic Planning Unit, Development Control and Regeneration.
Naturally, there are sometimes issues which can't be dealt with by one Directorate alone. This is why we have our new Development Groups. They tackle crosscutting issues such as those that arise in economic development. This valuable combination of Directorates and Development Groups provide us with an essential flexibility and agility, enabling us to respond to issues quickly and intelligently.
