Winter Services

During the winter months the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has a Winter Maintenance Policy and operates a gritting programme to help keep conditions as safe as possible. Please see our Winter Services web pages for further details of gritting routes and location of salt bins.

Fallen Trees

Trees on Private Land

If the tree is on private land the property owners are responsible for the maintenance of the tree. (This responsibility may extend to occupiers or other parties where legal agreements exist).

In the event of a fallen tree on private land, please contact a local Tree Contractor, however, if the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order/Planning Condition or in a Conservation Area, then you must report this, prior to undertaking works if possible, to the Borough's Tree Officers on 01628 796134.

Trees on Public Land

When reporting fallen trees on public land eg. road, footpath, park etc, please provide as much of the following as possible:

  • Contact Details (name, phone, address of person reporting the obstruction)
  • Type of Tree and size?
  • Is the tree privately owned or on council land?
  • Exact location of Tree (eg distance from a known point ie. 100 yards from junction of.., property number, postcode, or specific landmark)
  • Is it obstructing the road or footpath?
  • Level of Danger (eg. traffic, people, or property)?
  • Does the tree have a Tree Preservation Order on it or is it situated in a Conservation Area?
