Nationally, incidents of food poisoning are increasing rapidly. In seeking to prevent and/or control outbreaks of infectious disease, e.g. food poisoning, we:
Investigate food poisoning and certain infectious diseases.
Establishes, wherever possible, the cause of the infection.
Offers advice on precautions required to prevent the spread of infection.
May monitor the bacterial quality of food, private water supplies (i.e. wells & bore holes), and public swimming pools.
Respond to Food and Allergy Hazard Warnings issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA)
