Landlord Gas Safety Advice

As a landlord, you are legally responsible for the safety of your tenants in relation to gas safety. By law you must:

  • Repair and maintain gas pipework, flues and appliances in safe condition
  • Ensure an annual gas safety check on each appliance and flue
  • Keep a record of each safety check

The Health and Safety Executive has launched a web based 'One Stop Shop' for guidance to help landlords understand what they need to do to comply with their domestic gas safety duties.

The 'One Stop Shop (external)' has been developed to provide a single source of relevant information for landlords. The aim is to improve awareness of gas safety requirements and to make it easier for landlords to find the information they need to carry out their duties for gas safety.
