Housing Health and Safety Hazard Rating System
The Housing Act 2004 introduced a new way for local authorities to assess housing conditions in England and Wales. It uses a risk assessment approach called the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, or rating system for short. The aim is to provide a system to enable risks to the health and safety of occupiers to be identified and then removed or minimised.
