It is a legal requirement for you to make sure your dog wears an identity tag when out in a public place.
It is an offence to let your dog stray. If a stray dog is caught and we can't trace the owner, we will keep it in boarding kennels for which a fee will be charged + £25 for collection and administration. If your dog is picked up and not claimed within 7 days, you will lose the right to reclaim it, and we will try to re-home it. It is therefore important to ensure that the information in your dog's microchip is the current contact details.
If you allow your dog to foul any public place, you can be liable for a 'Fixed Penalty Notice' (£52) to be served on you on the spot, which is a fast-track alternative to prosecution in the Magistrates' Court which carries a maximum fine of £1000
