Children with special educational needs (SEN) all have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age. These children may need extra or different help from that given to other children. Children with SEN may need extra help because of a range of needs, such as thinking and understanding, physical or sensory difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, difficulties with speech and language, or how they relate to and behave with other people.
Schools can usually help most children to overcome the difficulties they may be experiencing in their learning, but a few children will need extra help for some or all of their time at school.
These pages should be able to help you to find out what you can do if you think your child has special educational needs. They should also be able to inform you of who can help and what type of help is available in The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM).
