What happens when my child has a statement and needs to change school?

When your child starts school, or moves to a new school, you should tell your child's teacher about all the special help that has previously been provided by other schools, or by health or social care.

If your child has a statement of special educational needs the LA will contact you and the relevant schools to let them know of future changes. This is particularly the case when children are due to move up to the next stage of their schooling in Year 5 for primary age children, Year 3 for First School pupils and Year 7 for pupils in Middle Schools.
