School Closures

The decision to open a school rests with the headteacher and is normally made first thing in the morning after assessing weather conditions. In the event of severe weather, if we do not have information about a specific school, parents should check directly with the school to see if it is open or closed, or keep checking this page for updates. Many schools now have text or email alerts set up to communicate directly with parents, and most use their own websites.

If you click on the name of your school below, it will take you to the school's own website where one exists. Telephone numbers are also provided.

In the event of severe weather we will update the information below as soon as we are informed by headteachers about any closures. Please note that schools do not need to inform us if they are opening as normal. If your school is an academy please contact them directly, as they are not obliged to let the local authority know if they are closed.
