There is a proposal to increase the number of places in Reception at Oldfield Primary School for next September. More details can be found on the following news item. For a small number of residents living in or close to the Oldfield designated area this may have an effect on your decision as to which three schools to list as your preferences. A letter is being sent to all parents of children born between 1st September 2007 and the 31st August 2008 on the Borough's admissions database with further information. A copy of this letter is below. Please read this is for full details.
If you are a resident of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead* and you have a child whose date of birth is on or between 1 September 2007 - 31 August 2008, then you will be required to apply for a primary school place for the 2012-2013 academic year. This application needs to be made by 16th January 2012.
You must only apply through RBWM if you are an RBWM resident. You can apply for non-RBWM schools on our application form.
If you currently attend an RBWM maintained nursery provision then an application form and explanatory letter will be sent out to you automatically during September 2011.
If you do not attend an RBWM maintained nursery provision, then please register online now for an application form and letter to be sent to you.
Please Note: This registration is to receive an applicaton form and explanatory letter. It is not itself an application for a school place. Applications can be made online via the Online Admissions page from September 2011. Paper applications are only available by request and are not available to download on this website.
(*If you are not a resident of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead you will need to apply through your Home Authority. You will still be able to apply for RBWM schools through your home Authority.)
By law a child need not start school until the start of the term following his or her fifth birthday. For this purpose we think of the traditional three-year term with terms starting in September, January and April. You are therefore able to delay your child's entry into school until the term after their 5th birthday. Parents may wish to take advantage of the wide range of early years education available prior to this. You can find out about all the services available to young children from the Family Information Service.
If your child was born before 1 September 2008 and you have yet to apply for a school place, then you need to do so urgently. Applications were due in by the 16th January 2012. You must call 01628 683870 immediately in order to get an application form.
