Community and Neighbourhood Learning Centres

Local learning opportunities are offered at a number of Community and Neighbourhood Learning Centres.

Some of the following centres are designated Berkshire Neighbourhood Learning Centre Partnership locations (BNLCP). The aim of the BNLCP is to promote the centres and underpin the sustainability to ensure that each community of Berkshire has a viable and vibrant community centre that meets local needs.

Ellington Community Learning Centre (BNLCP)

The 'Equal Access for All' initiative at Ellington Primary School, Maidenhead, offers a wide range of learning opportunities to the local community. The strength of the initiative is that it responds to learners' needs, is delivered in a community-friendly setting and gives new learners the additional support they need whilst trying out something new. The project now has over 100 learners and has attracted members of the community who for some time have felt excluded from mainstream adult education.

In partnership with East Berkshire College, BCA (Berkshire College of Agriculture), the Workers' Educational Association, the Pre-School Learning Alliance and other local providers of learning, the Borough has been able to offer learners a wide range of learning opportunities from English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and IT to keep fit and health promotion. An on-site crèche is available for learners with babies and toddlers. Information and advice is offered by qualified experienced staff. The IT suite here has ten computers.
