Developing a culture of Learning for Sustainability is the objective of the Borough's Learning for Sustainability Strategy 2008 - 2014.
The basic premise of the Borough's LfS Strategy is that our current patterns of behaviour are unsustainable, that while we have some ideas of how it may be appropriate to change our behaviour these will not be sufficient to see us into a sustainable future, and that the only way to progress in a sustainable direction is to ensure that we are continually learning with sustainability in mind.
The LfS Framework sets out a methodology for assisting organisations to address the issue of environmental sustainability in a way that engages all of the organisation's stakeholders. The objective is to develop a culture of Learning for Sustainability within the organisation that results in changed behaviour, both of individual stakeholders and the organisation as a whole. This is achieved through the production of a LfS Framework for your organisation. The Framework is produced with the active involvement of your stakeholders and will enable you both to gain a better impression of your organisation's activities in relation to sustainability and to prioritise action appropriately. The framework also allows for the actions to be monitored and assessed with a view to facilitating a continuous process of learning and improvement.
Whatever organisation you represent, whether a school or
college, youth or community organisation or a business, the LfS
Coordinator is happy to provide advice and 'kick-start'
training, to help you get on your way with this process.
