Energy Efficiency - Council

Implementing the Council's Carbon Management Programme

A Strategy and Implementation Plan (SIP) was adopted in April 2008 designed to identify the Council's emissions of CO2 resulting from its own activities. This identified a number of projects that could be carried out in order to reduce the Council's energy use, energy costs and CO2 emissions.
Some of the projects identified are listed below:

  • Automatic Meter Reading
The Council has installed automatic metering across 7 sites to facilitate careful monitoring of energy consumption.

  • Staff Awareness Campaign
To raise awareness amongst staff of the measures that can be taken to help cut energy use and carbon emissions produced by the Council.
  • Salix Funding
In June 2009 the Council signed up to an interest free Salix Ring Fenced Fund for capital investment in energy efficient and low carbon technologies. For more information visit www.salixfinance.co.uk (External Website).
