Pre-Application Advice

Image of housePre-application and post-application advice are important aspects of the planning process. Early discussion of proposals can
give applicants an improved chance of permission being granted or, at least, an understanding of the reasons which might lead to a refusal.

Our pre-application advice service provides:

  • input of local knowledge and an understanding of how local and national policies will be applied to your project.
  • specialist advice from internal teams such as Highways, Trees and Environmental Protection officers.
  • advice regarding possible developers contributions under Section 106
  • advice given in a timely and organised manner.
  • possible savings on time and costs.

We also recognise the vital role that major developments can play in improving social well-being, increasing prosperity and providing homes. Such developments can have significant impacts on the environment, and affect individuals and communities. We strongly encourage you to enter into discussions with us before you submit such a proposal.

For this service the Council will charge in accordance with the fees outlined in our user guide "Advice before applying" which can be downloaded from the customer guides page using the link on the right. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Council.
