Design and Access Statements
National legislation requires many planning and related applications to be accompanied by a combined Design and Access Statement and the Council cannot register those applications without one. Please dowload and use the flow chart below to determine whether you will need to submit a Design and Access Statement to accompany your application.
The Council has produced a customer guide entitled Design and Access Statements which may be obtained using the navigation link to customer guides to the right. This provides more information about why Design and Access Statements are important, how to write one and the information which should be included. This also includes a copy of the determination flowchart. The guide also suggests sources of information from other agencies, which may help you.
We also supply some useful templates below which you can download and use as a guide for creating your own statements. Using the appropriate template should help you to produce a good statement. Not using the templates or not covering all the issues described may lead to a delay in registering your application or may mean that your application cannot be registered.
