Armed Forces personnel deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan will benefit from a tax-free rebate on the cost of council tax in new measures announced by Defence Secretary Des Browne today 25 September 2007.   For more information visit the Ministry of Defence website.  

Appealing Against Your Council Tax Band

A recent media campaign has highlighted the opportunity Council Tax payers may have, in challenging the Council Tax band of their property. Please be advised that all queries regarding your Council Tax Band, including requests for banding reductions, must be directed to the Valuation Office. 

You still need to pay your Council Tax while you are appealing against your band. If your Council Tax band is reduced any credits will be refunded to you.
