Improvements to the York House customer area mirror the light and airy colour scheme of the Town Hall CSC and include:

• a modern, open plan reception area with a separate interview desk for council tax and housing benefits callers, and incorporating private interview rooms for residents who need to speak to a member of staff confidentially
• a comfortable waiting area
• a relocated registrars' office for registering births and deaths, accessible from the reception area
• a telephone answering desk area for CSC staff
• a new ramp access for people who are disabled and those with prams and buggies
• an automated payment machine for residents who want to pay their council bills quickly and efficiently (installed last year and very well used).
