The Council is committed to reducing and alleviating deprivation in the Borough. Whilst the effects of deprivation are not necessarily, in themselves, life threatening, they can be damaging to personal health and to family life. Typical situations that may affect individuals adversely include unemployment, low skill base, lone parenthood, including widows and widowers, family breakdown, divorce, and learning or physical difficulties.
Current initiatives to help relieve deprivation include affordable housing policy, a benefits bus, empty homes policy, concessionary fares, grants to voluntary organisations, anti-drugs scheme and others. For further information: Tel: 01628 796221
