Council Inspections
All Councils are subject to regular inspections by central Government
departments. These help us to:
-
- Recognise and build on our strengths
- Identify where and how we can improve
Corporate Assessment (CA) is an inspection of all councils, carried out
by the Audit Commission. This inspection was carried out
under new arrangements introduced in September 2005 whereby the
Corporate Assessment is run simultaneously with a Joint Area Review
(JAR), the DfES/Ofsted integrated inspection framework for
children's services.
As part of the process we were required to write 'self
assessments', where we score ourselves according to themes and
questions that we've been given. The self-assessments for CPA
and JAR are published here for information.
