Braywick Nature Centre Events

Braywick Park is open to the public over the summer months with ample free parking. (Please note that Braywick Park car park barrier is locked between 9pm and 8am). Why not take a leisurely amble to spot flowers, birds, butterflies and other wildlife in this easily-accessed Local Nature Reserve?  For copies of Braywick Tree Trail, Nature Trail or leaflets about other sites of wildlife interest in the Royal Borough, please contact the Countryside Service on 01628 777440 or by email at: bnc@rbwm.gov.uk

Net a newt, catch a cricket, and go wild in the wood! The Countryside Rangers are seeking adventurers to explore the wild side of Braywick LNR! For 6 to 10 years. Places must be booked in advance on 01628 796227.

Family Pond Dipping Day

Date: Sunday 3 August
Time: 11am-12.30pm & 2pm-3.30pm
Cost: Donations welcome

Come and be amazed at what's living in the murky depths of Braywick Park LNR's pond! Now's your chance to get up close to newts, dragonfly nymphs, great diving beetles, and water scorpions!  All children must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs please.

Bats at Braywick!

Date: Tuesday 12 August
Time: 8pm-9.30pm
Cost:  £3.20 adult, £3 child with Advantage Card / £4.40 adults, £4 child without Advantage Card.

Come bat detecting with the Countryside Rangers on an evening bat walk!  See what kinds of bats are flying in Braywick Park's night skies!  Places must be booked in advance on 01628 796227; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Braywick Nature Centre.

Gardening for Wildlife - Open Day

Date: Sunday 28 September
Time: 12noon-4pm
Cost: FREE

With over 15 million gardens in the UK we can all do our bit to provide space for our local wildlife. If you would like to know more about how to attract more birds, butterflies and ladybirds to your garden then join the Countryside Rangers at Braywick Nature Centre for a fun and informative day of wild gardening. Bring a 2-litre plastic fizzy drink bottle to be reused as a lacewing hotel! No need to book, just show up on the day. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wildlife Watch

Braywick Watch Group is a local environmental youth club for children aged 7-12yrs, based at Braywick Nature Centre. The group is run by Countryside Service staff and registered Watch Leaders, and meets once a month (except August), usually on Sunday afternoons. Activities include wildlife surveys, practical conservation taks, and visits to nature reserves and environmental centres.

  • Unless otherwise stated events at the nature centre are unsuitable for children under 6 years
  • No refunds will be made for cancellations less than 48hrs prior to the start of the event, where payment is for less than £10 and unless the place(s) are resold.  All refunds are subject to a £5 administration charge.
