Building Control - Works without Approval Frequently Asked Questions

If you sell your house, you will almost certainly be asked to provide a completion certificate for any work done to which the Building Regulations apply. If work has been done and you do not have a completion certificate, you may have difficulty selling the house.

It is important to note that it is a completion certificate that you need, not a Buildiing Regulation Full Plans Approval Notice . The Approval Notice refers to drawings submitted under the Building Regulations, it states that the work would comply if it were carried out in accordance with those drawings. It does not comment on whether the work was carried out in accordance with the drawings or whther it complied with the Building Regulations.
