House Improvements and Extensions
Master Bond Warranty
This offers an affordable insurance backed warranty for homeowners carrying out home improvements such as extensions, loft conversions or structural alterations. This scheme is in partnership with the Federation of Master Builders. It's worth bearing in mind that even the best of builders can meet problems through no fault of their own. The warranty protects against loss of deposit, two year protection against defects and faulty workmanship/ materails and a further eight year cover against structural defects. It also covers loss of deposit and if the builder employs subcontractors, their work is also covered.
Should problems arise after the work is finished, the cover protects you even if your builder has gone out of business, been declared bankrupt or died.
The scheme also offers a dispute resolution service over quality issues during construction. If the builder you originally appointed refuses, or is unable to carry out any agreed remedial work, another reputable builder will promptly be appointed to complete the contract. A total of ten years peace of mind. Cover is also automatically transferred to any future purchaser of your property - an extra selling point for vendors in today's competitive housing market.
Introduced in response to widespread consumer demand for more protection in such circumstances, Masterbond Warranty adds just 1.5 per cent to the total cost of the job ( including the cost of VAT ). On a job costing £5,000, Masterbond Warranty cover costs just £75- a small price to pay for peace of mind.

LABC New Home Warranty
From 2nd January 2007, LABC are proud to announce the launch of their own branded warranty alongside our Building Control function, in partnership with MD Insurance Services (MDIS). In addition to other similar new housing warranties, LABC have developed a building warranty for speculative housebuilding, flats / apartments, mixed developments, conversions and housing association schemes.
MDIS are approved to administer and regulate the scheme by the Financial Services Authority. MDIS have 10 years experience in managing and running specialist new home warranty schemes.
Following strong customer feedback and demand for a new alternative, the LABC New Home Warranty can provide added value to the existing strengths of local knowledge and technical expertise of the LABC service. Called simply ' The LABC New Home Warranty ', it offers a quality service with specific competitive products for the speculative housing, social housing and self build housing sectors of the market.
There are a number of options to provide the best solution for all our builder and developer clients, these include :-
LABC New Home Warranty
The LABC New Home Warranty is committed to quality, both in terms of ensuring that homes are built to the highest possible standards and also delivering a high quality service to developers and policyholders.
