Building Control - National Type Approval Frequently Asked Questions

We fully participate in LANTAC, the Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation.

This is a scheme for builders and developers who are involved with similar developments in different parts of the country. It is designed to help obtain ' no fuss ' approvals under the Building Regulations throughout England and Wales.

The scheme enables developers to obtain a Type Approval Certificate for a particular design which can then be used within another local authority's area to speed the plan approval process.

Although localised aspects of the building work will still need to be approved by the Local Authority, within whose area the development will be built, the scheme certainly saves the developer much time and expense, as he can be assured that the superstructure of new development will not have to be checked again.
