Types of Information

The Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) provides performance data, statistics and guidance on matters of employment, child support, pensions and welfare benefits.

Jobcentre Plus is part of the Department for Work & Pensions. It provides advice and information on all aspects of claiming benefit and seeking work.

The Pension Service is part of the Department for Work & Pensions and provides advice on entitlement and manages the payment of State Pension and Pension Credit. It also works in partnership with other local organisations to deliver other pension-related services.

The Child Support Agency is part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The Agency is responsible for running the child support system. Its main functions are the assessment, collection and payment of child support maintenance and ensuring that parents who live apart meet their financial responsibilities to their children.

New Deal provides help and support to people looking for work, including training and job preparation. New Deal is part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The Inland Revenue is responsible for the administration of income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, petroleum revenue tax, inheritance tax, national insurance contributions and stamp duties. It is also responsible for the payment of Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit.

The Serious Fraud Office is a government department and is part of the UK criminal justice system. It investigates and prosecutes serious and complex fraud and aims to deter fraud and maintain confidence in the integrity of business and financial services in the United Kingdom.

HM Customs & Excise provides advice and administration of VAT, Customs, Excise and all other related matters.

The Benefit Fraud Inspectorate is part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It reviews the standards, identifies risks and makes recommendations for improvements in benefit administration and security.

Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) provides publications and policy guidance from Central Government on all aspects of regulatory, leglislative and practice issues affecting the public sector.

The Home Office is the Government Department responsible for the control of immigration & nationality, community and race issues, crime, drugs and terrorism.

The Local Government Association (LGA) represents the local authorities of England and Wales - a total of just under 500. These account for over 50 million people and expenditure of around £78 billion pounds per annum. The LGA brokers the partnership between central and local government, secures finance and access to information, advice, services and support required by Local Authorities.
