The special traffic and travel arrangements during the Olympics and Paralympic Games will mean temporary changes to all waste collection times - but don't worry, your bins will be emptied on the usual day, just a little earlier.
This is because:
traffic management around the Olympic Windsor Racecourse transport hub means the waste trucks cannot do kerbside collections between 7am and 7pm (particularly along the A308 Maidenhead - Windsor clearway where loading/unloading are prohibited)
The council's first priority is to maintain the weekly waste collection service throughout the Games with the least possible impact on residents, while helping to ensure the free flow of traffic to Eton Dorney.
Key dates
The changes to collections will run from Saturday 28 July to Saturday 11 August during the Olympic Games.
The Paralympic Games at Eton Dorney from Friday 31 August to Sunday 2 September will mainly affect services on the Friday only.
Bins out before 5.30am
Your weekly waste collection will be on the normal day - just a little earlier.
Waste trucks will be on the road from 5am - 90minutes earlier than usual - and collections will start from 5.30am.
Please put out your wheelie bins for collection BEFORE 5.30am on your normal collection day or the night before.
Residents on A308 - special arrangements
With thousands of visitors from across the world expected every day of the Olympics, the council is working to make sure the A308 - the main approach to the Eton Dorney events - is looking its best.
Special waste collection arrangements will be in place for residents between the Stafferton Way roundabout, Maidenhead, and the roundabout under the Windsor and Eton relief road.
If you live on this stretch of the A308 you MUST put out your bins the NIGHT BEFORE collection.
Once emptied, the bins will be returned to inside the boundary of your property. In this way we can keep the road looking spic and span at times when international visitors will be shuttled to and from Windsor Racecourse.
Sutherland Grange - bring site suspended during the Games
In light of its close proximity to the Games site and the need to help reduce traffic in the area, the Sutherland Grange bring site off the A308 Maidenhead to Windsor Road will be suspended throughout the OLYMPICS period.
The nearest alternative bring sites are at Stovell Road, Windsor, and Tinkers Lane, Dedworth.
Civic amenity site
If you plan to take your recycling and waste to the civic amenity site, please note opening time changes to avoid a wasted journey.
The Tip Road facility will open later in the morning - at 9am - and close at the normal summer time of 8pm.
Waste transfer station opening times
The waste transfer station in Stafferton Way, Maidenhead, will be open for trade waste disposal as normal during the Games. However, commercial traders are requested to arrive at the station after 9am to avoid the traffic that will be entering and leaving the Games park and ride facility at Stafferton Way.
Olympic Torch relay - Tuesday 10 July
With the Flame being carried through the Royal Borough on Tuesday 10 July, local roads and traffic will be unavoidably disrupted at intervals throughout the day.
If your normal waste collection day coincides with the relay, the message is - your waste will be collected on your normal day but earlier. Collections will start at 6.30am so please make sure your bins are at the kerbside before then or put them out the previous evening.
Keep up your Olympic recycling efforts
The borough's recycling rates are rising, thanks to all your hard work and good green habits. Keep up the good work during the Olympics - and don't forget you can get great Recyclebank rewards.
Just a reminder that plastic bags and textiles should NOT be placed in your blue recycling bin.
Plastic bags can be recycled at supermarkets and textiles can be recycled at the civic amenity site and at a number of public bring sites. For the full list visit www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/wm_bring_sites.htm
