Rewarding excellence in community safety

The Royal Borough's Community Safety Partnership is launching its first Community Safety Awards on Thursday 16 June to recognise the outstanding contribution that an individual or a group has made to the safety and reassuring environment of their local community.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Environment, said: "The Community Safety Partnership Awards give us the opportunity to say a public thank you to the many exceptional people who help make the Royal Borough one of the safest areas in the country.

"All too often we hear bad news stories - and unfortunately all the good work done by the public goes unnoticed. I encourage everyone to think about the people who have made a difference to their communities and nominate them for an award. It's time to celebrate all their achievements."

There are two award categories:

  • for someone who has played a major role in tackling and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
  • for a group which has had a significant impact in its community in addressing crime or anti-social behaviour

For an application form or guidelines on how to nominate someone for these awards, contact the Community Safety Projects Officer on 01628 685651 or email communitysafety@rbwm.gov.uk Alternatively, visit www.rbwmsafety4all.org.uk The closing date is Friday 12 August. The winners will be announced at the Volunteer of the Year Awards on Thursday 6 October.
