New community cafe for Ockwells Park

It's the latest in the Royal Borough's growing list of popular community cafes in parks across the borough - and it's now open for business!

Ockwells Park in Maidenhead is the third new community café to be opened in the last year and the latest "recruit" in the borough's drive to create a more welcoming and safe environment in local parks and open spaces.

The café at Ockwells Park joins a growing list of cafes and tearooms provided in local parks and open spaces - including Kidwells Park,* Oaken Grove,* Ray Mill Island and Riverside Gardens in Maidenhead and Alexandra Gardens, Bachelors Acre, Clewer Memorial Park*, Kiddies Corner and the Tea Gardens in Windsor.

The new café is being run on a year's trial by Cox Green resident Andrea Butler and is open from 10am to 6pm six days a week, weather permitting (closed on Mondays).

Cllr Simon Dudley, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, said: "I am delighted that residents and visitors in yet another area of the borough will be able to enjoy all the benefits of one of our popular cafes.

"We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere in our parks and open spaces, and these cafes and tearooms provide a natural focus for people to meet and relax and enjoy a real feeling of community.

"I would like to wish Andrea and the café every success - and urge everyone to pop in for a welcoming cuppa and support this exciting venture."
