Summary: Date of death
CWGC lists his death as occuring on 28/09/1917, SDGW lists it as occuring on 28/09/1916. The Records of the soldiers effects as well as the Medal Roles list him as "missing/presumed dead" 28/09/1915. As during the date in 1915 the battalion was engaged in heavy fighting, and little of note is recorded on the other days it is believed the 1915 date to be correct.
There is a casualty record for Alfred on the site.
Considerable action and casualties on the day that Alfred lost his life.
