Prior to the war Alfred had been a regular soldier.
Alfred was baptised on 30th April 1897 in Aylesbury. He was married but after his death his wife Esther Ada Brown remarried and became Mrs. Wicks.
Alfred died during the start of the British offensive the Third Battle of Ypres,or Passchendale, which lasted until November. He is remembered at Artillery Wood Cemetery. Also listed on the Buckinghamshire Remembered pages.
