William enlisted with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and was serving in France towards the end of the War when he was wounded and taken to the 29th or 46th Casualty clearing station where he died on 13th November 1918. He was buried at Delsaux Farm Cemetery, Beugny, Pas de Calais, Buriel no. lll.A.20.
William was the eldest son of Harry and Mary Ann Rose who lived at 135 North Terrace, Boyne Hill in Maidenhead. He was 12 in 1911 and had siblings Reggie, Edith, Sidney and Morris. Their father was a labourer.
