Additional information

Lt Laurence was initially in Eqypt, but sent to France in September 1914. In March the battalion took part in the Battle of Neuve Chapelle. During the British attack on 11 March 1915, the artillery barrage landed too far from its objective and instead landed on the leading platoons. It was during this combat chaos that Laurence was killed and buried in a grave later destroyed by further fighting. He is remembered at Le Tournet Memorial having no known grave. Age 26.
Le Touret Memorial , Pas de Calais. He was the son of Col. Oliver Edwal Ruck, R.E., of Brynderw, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, and E. E. A. Ruck (nee Pedley).
