Father Sir Edgar BERNARD KBE

Additional information

He was the son of Col E E Bernard CMG, and was killed by rifle fire whilst cutting wire in front of enemy trench. He was one of two soldiers, from Beaumont College, who were killed at the end of December 1914, and were buried during the “Christmas truce” with German officers present to pay their respects. This happened in two separate places along the front, for Lt Bernard Bernard, Warwicks and Lt Richard Nugent, Scots Gds.
He is remembered at Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium
