Additional information

James was the son of James Caines and his late wife Elizabeth who lived in Maidenhead. According to the 1911 census James junior worked as a butcher before the War.
Private Caines enlisted in Oxford and served with the Worcester Regiment and latterly with the Essex Regiment. He was killed at the Battle of Arras which was fought during April and May in 1917. James died on 19th May and is remembered at the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, in France.
