The Local Children Safeguarding Board (LSCB) is firmly committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all children and young people. That is why we put emphasis on safeguarding controls for staff and volunteers. These controls ensure that people who are unsuitable to work with children are discouraged from doing so, by communications, challenges during interview, and they are screened out through the various checks and balances described in this leaflet.

From October 2009 the Independent safeguarding Authority (ISA) will implement its scheme to register all workers who work with children and vulnerable adults. This will affect you if you are an employer, worker or a volunteer. It is important that you are aware of the scheme and take the appropriate action.
