Visitors to our website will notice changes that refer to cookies being written to the visitor's computer.
This change is in response to an EU Privacy Directive which becomes effective on the 26 May and which requires that any organisation that runs a public website must offer visitors to those sites, the option to accept or decline the storage of computer cookies on the device being used to access the site.
We have addressed the issue by introducing a banner at the top of the page that is first visited. The visitor is asked whether they will accept cookies. If they accept they will be asked if they wish that preference to be remembered. If they wish the setting to be remembered then they will not see the cookie message again, unless they visit us on a different machine.
If visitors do not wish to have cookies stored then we will note that option and not store cookies on the machine except for a single one that will remember the preference.
We have increased the amount of information that we already publish on our website and links to this are in the cookie messages and also available via links on each webpage.
